On Sunday, September 1, 2013, Frances Darlene See Hagen Wright passed away peacefully at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, September 6, 2013 at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 1517 Northwestern in Ames with burial to follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 – 7 PM at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th St, Ames.
Fran was born on February 9, 1931 near Nevada, Iowa. She was the daughter of Martha Olive Carr and Charles Homer See and spent her childhood in the Story County area. On December 6, 1947, Fran married Clarence J. Hagen and they made their home in Ames. They were blessed with three daughters. Clarence passed away on November 16, 1996. She married Robert L. Wright on December 1, 2000 and he died April 15, 2010.
Fran was a long time employee of Collegiate Manufacturing Company (later known as Collegiate Pacific) and a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Moose Ladies and the Elks Ladies.
Fran enjoyed sewing, needlework and crafts, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling with each of her husbands and would often speak of her travels throughout the United States. In 2011, Fran became a resident of Heartwood House at Northcrest Community in Ames and lived there until her passing.
Fran is survived by her daughters, Belinda (David) Merritt, Doreen (Jerry L.) Spencer and Sheryl Hagen, all of Ames; three grandchildren, Jerry M. (Melissa) Spencer of Roland, Jeff (Cheryl) Spencer of Nevada and Danielle Spencer of Tampa, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Mychal Spencer of Roland; two sisters, Gladys Rozelle of Coolidge, Arizona and Sue Ann (Frank) Lamp of Grundy Center; and three brothers, Raymond (Berdine) See of Independence, Donald See of Garland, Texas and David (Rose) See of Chandler, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; an infant daughter, Shelley Renee Hagen; a sister, Doris White; and a brother, Marion See.
