Obituary From Boeke Funeral Homes, Hardin County, Iowa.

Beulah Knutson, age 99, formerly of Story City, IA, died on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, IA.

Beulah Irene Knutson was born on July 17, 1914 in her parents’ home in Randall, IA. She was one of five children born to Peter and Bertha (Anderson) Okland.

She grew up in Randall and graduated from Randall high school. She met Amos Knutson while working at her family’s grocery store in Randall following high school. They were married on January 14, 1938 in her parents’ home in Randall. They farmed near Estherville for seven years and moved back to the Radcliffe area in 1945. Beulah was a homemaker and worked at the turkey plant in Ellsworth for 24 years. She and Amos also farmed until 1978 when they retired to Story City.

Beulah and Amos travelled a lot during their retirement years and always welcomed new adventures. They took many bus trips around the country and went on fishing excursions to International Falls. Beulah enjoyed baking for many family gatherings and cherished time spent with family and friends. Her favorite pastimes included playing cards, knitting and crocheting.

Beulah and Amos were members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.

Amos passed away in 1999 and Beulah moved to Cedar Place in Story City. She has been a resident of the Hubbard Care Center since June 2005. She passed away there on Friday, September 13, 2013.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include two daughters Helen and her husband Ron Severseike of Radcliffe, IA and Carol Murphy and her friend Paul of Ankeny, IA; eight grandchildren, Randy (Susan) Knutson, Karla (Steve) Simon, Jeff (Lisa) and Jim (Sheri) Severseike, Julie (Mike) Olson, Debra (Josh) Hveem, Jeni (Shane) Harmon, Matt Mauk and; twenty great-grandchildren Tyler, Ryan and Logan Simon, Trent, Justin, Cole and Nick Severseike, Branden and Nathan Severseike, Kayden and Saydie Olson, Treyton, Talan and Haley Hveem, Brady and Blake Harmon, Scott and Sam Mauk, Nathan and Benjamin Knutson; along with other relatives and friends.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Amos, one son Richard, one grandson Michael Mauk, two sisters Grace Thorson and Ethyl Munsinger, and two brothers Ralph and Lloyd Okland.
