Carl Richard Grage
October 18, 1955 - April 27, 2013

Carl Richard "Rick" Grage, 57 of rural Colo died on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada. Military rites, conducted by the Ames American Legion Post #37, will be held at the conclusion of the visitation. Immediately following, Rick's family invites friends to the Nevada Senior Center on 6th Street for a time of fellowship.

Rick was born on October 18, 1955 in Manilla, IA to Edward and Elizabeth (Mundt) Grage. He was a graduate of Manilla High School. Rick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In February of 1993, he married Dianne Duarte in Rhode Island. Rick was a federal meat inspector. He was a member of the Ames American Legion Post #37 and the Elks Lodge where he enjoyed volunteering. Rick loved to cook.

Rick is survived by his wife Dianna; his parents Ed and Betty Grage of Manilla; a son John Grage; two daughters, Angie Grage and Nicki Jones, all of Des Moines; a step-son Robert Peterson of Colo; three brothers Doug (Sandy) Grage of Manilla, Brad (Angie) Grage of Waterloo and Terry (Cathy) Grage of Ralston, NE; five grandchildren Ashton Jones, Olivia Burkett, Jaxson Jones, Robert Peterson III and Tristen Krier.

Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Rick.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Rick and his family.
