Mark S. Tomlinson
December 14, 1951 - April 12, 2013Mark Stuart Tomlinson, 61, of Huxley was born December 14, 1951 in Ames, Iowa to Neoma (Bjelland) and Leslie Tomlinson. His long journey with cancer ended on April 12, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House with his family at his side.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at Ballard Middle School gymnasium (former Ballard High School). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m. also at Ballard Middle School. Mark has requested this to be a casual celebration of his life.
Mark graduated from Ballard Community School District in 1970. He married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl (Accola) Tomlinson, on June 16, 1973. Mark and Cheryl had three daughters: Tricia (Todd) Applegate, Leon; Kari (Jason) Lande, Slater; and Shelly (Mike) Colvin, Huxley. Papa loved his grandchildren: Alaina, Mya and Paxon Applegate; Chance and Jada Lande; and Jamin and Vera Colvin.
Mark’s hobbies included boating, camping and ice fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking, remodeling his daughter’s homes, grandchildren’s activities and projects, and meeting the guys at Casey’s coffee club. He was a loyal volunteer at Ballard athletic events and at the state wrestling tournament.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brothers Mike Tomlinson and Vincent Tomlinson, many relatives and great friends. Preceding him in death were his parents.
A special thank you to Israel Family Hospice House, fifth floor Mary Greeley staff, and countless visitors. In lieu of flowers all memorial contributions may be directed toward the family.
