Jeffries Thorson

Jeffries Everett Thorson, 84, of Story City, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997 at Colonial Manor in Zearing of complications from cancer. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 9 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, in which he was a member, with Rev. Tom Hunt and Rev. Stephen Anenson officiating. The cremains will be buried in the Story City Cemetery.

Jeffries Everett Thorson was born July 31, 1913 in Story City to Miles M. and Jeanette (Wierson) Thorson. A lifelong resident of Story City, he was a farmer and cement finisher. He married Betty Louise Wirth on Oct. 27, 1934 in Ames.

Immediate survivors include four sons, Alfred Wirth of Ames, Everett Thorson of Chino, California, Clifford Thorson of Fountain Valley, California, and Eugene Thorson of Ames, three sisters, Mazel Johnson of Story City, Iona Lenning of Ames, and Maxine Hovick of Branson, Missouri, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Leroy Thorson, one grandson, Rachel Wirth, and two brothers, Arle and Onel Thorson.

Memorials may be given to Colonial Manor in Zearing.
