Tracie A. Sweet

Tracie A. Sweet, 96, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Story City, died Friday, July 18, 1997 of heart failure in the Citadel Care Center in Mesa. A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Preston officiating. Burial of the cremains was in the Story City Cemetery.

Tracei A. (Zimmer) Sweet was born on Feb. 16, 1901 in Floyd County, Iowa, to Charles and Suzanne (Rote) Zimmer. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and taught public school music in Barnes City, Iowa. On Jan. 1, 1925, she married Roy A. Sweet of Floyd County, Iowa. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for more than 60 years and directed the adult Choir Chapter FZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood since 1935.

Survivors include one son, Robert, of Mesa; one daughter, Susan Dees, of Cookeville, Tennessee; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy.
