Ida Leora Michaelson, 87, of Zearing, formerly of Story City, died Saturday of heart failure at the Colonial Manor in Zearing. Memorial services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, with the Rev. Rolfe Johnstad officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in the Story City Cemetery.
Ida Leora Johnson was born near Story City to Albert and Christine (Hanson) Johnson. On July 1, 1933, she married Boyd Michaelson in Story City. he preceded her in death. Mrs. Michaelson was a lifetime Story City and Ames area resident, moving to Zearing in November 1994.
Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Michaelson taught country school. Later she worked as a supervisor at Iowa State University retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Saint Petri Lutheran Church in Story City.
Mrs. Michaelson is survived by one daughter, Alberta Olson of Story City; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters.
The Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City is in charge of arrangements.
