Frank B. Layton, rural Story City, killed in accident

Frank R. Layton, 73, of rural Story City, was killed Wednesday* afternoon in an accident on a nearby farm. Layton was cutting trees on the Lloyd Thompson farm east of Randall when the tree he was cutting fell on him.

Services for Layton will be held Friday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m., in the Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, with Rev. Donald Berg officiating. Burial will be in the Story City Municipal cemetery.

Layton was born April 25, 1903, near Stratford. On Aug. 26, 1936, he married Jeanette Severson. He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Tom (Clara) Madson, and Mrs. Arthur Lehman; and one brother, Harold, of Cedar Falls. He is also survived by four step-sisters.
