Nels Hermanson, son of Peter and Bodil Hermanson, was born on a farm south of Story City, on February 26, 1873, and died at his home in Story City, June 4, 1951 at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 9 days. He had been bedfast fro the past six years suffering from Parkinson disease.
October 9, 1901, he was united in marriage to Bessie Jacobson. To this union three children were born, namely, Mrs. Lena Mackey, Story City; Theresa (deceased) and Olive (Mrs. Ben Mackey) of Boone. Mrs. Hermanson died on March 6, 1926 at their home west of Story City.
Later Mr. Hermanson was united in marriage to Tillie Thorson of Story City who survives him. He also leaves his daughters, Mrs. Lena Mackey and Mrs. Sam Mackey; two grandchildren; a nephew, Russell Jacobson of San Diego, Calif., and Aldie Strieff (both of whom made their home with the Hermansons; a brother, Walter L. Hermanson and a sister, Mrs. Mamie Townswick, both of Story City.
Mr. Hermanson was baptized into the Christian faith and was a member of Immanuel congregation at the time of his passing.
Many contributions, amounting to over $138, were given to the Memorial hospital, missions, and local projects in his memory.
Relatives who attended the funeral from a distance were from Ruthven, Graettinger, Kanawha, Renwick, Cedar Falls, Dows, Adel, Charles City and Ames; also, San Diego, Calif. and Dodge Center, Minn.
