Peter J. Hans

Graveside services for Peter J. Hans, age 86, former Story City resident, were held at Story City Municipal Cemetery Saturday morning, February 15. The Rev. Perry Sampson was in charge and pallbearers were members of the Story City American Legion Post 59.

Peter J. Hans was born January 17, 1889 in Lakota, Iowa. The Hans family lived in Story City a number of years where they owned and operated the Hans Grocery. He was a 52 year member and past commander of American Legion Post 59. Mr. Hans passed away at the Iowa Soldiers Home in Marshalltown, Wednesday, February 12. He had been in ill health the past nine years.

Survivors include a step-son, Harry K. Smith of Johnston, Iowa; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters: Bertha Hans of Algona, Mrs. Louise Schroeder and Mrs. Mary Zoeler, both of Lakota; four brothers: William of Rudd, Walter and Erent of Lakota, Iowa, and Hugo of Rockford, Illinois.
