LARS L. MONSON
Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 21st, at 1:30 at the Larson Funeral home and 2 p.m. in the Immanuel church for Lars L. Monson. Rev. T. J. Alvestad officiated. A solo "Saved by Grace" was sung by Rhoda Honderd at the funeral home and two solos, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Rock of Ages" were sung by Lillian Alsager at the church. Mrs. Arvie Jacobson was accompanist.
His pallbearers were Harry Jacobson, Aldin Hand, Mondred Bergeson, Albert Mathiason, Julius Knutson and Joe Honderd. Burial was in the local cemetery.
He was stricken with an illness for nearly two years. he went to many doctors here and at Iowa City bet received little help, but he never complained in spite of much suffering. He was always cheerful, saying, "We will have to take the bad with the good," and "All will be well with me when by days are ended here." This was the philosophy he lived up to until Thursday, Dec 17, at 6:30 a.m., when he passed away at the local hospital which he entered Oct. 6. He had reached the high age of 8 years and 2 days.
Lars was born at the farm home 4 miles south of Story City Dec. 15, 1870. He was baptized in the St. Petri church and at the age of 14 years was confirmed in the same church by Rev. L. Shervin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and two brothers, one of whom passed away just two months ago. he is survived by three brothers, Albert, Ole and Martin, and one sister, Julia, all of Story City; also many nieces and nephews.
