Mrs. Eli Opstvedt

Funeral services for Mrs. Eli ("Mattie") Opstvedt were held Friday afternoon, July 5 at two o'clock, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, with pastor Olaf Holen in charge. Mrs. Harold Olson was organist. Mrs. Tim Yantis sang, "I Come to the Garden Alone," and "How Great Thou Art." Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery. Pall bearers were Robert Riney, Russell Clayberg, Jerry Johnson, Leslie Chelvig, Gerald Hildal and John Nordeen.

Mrs. Martha "Mattie" Opstvedt, daughter of Martin and Helen Wierson, was born on a farm north of Story City on May 25, 1899. She was united in marriage to Eli Opstvedt, in 1927. Mrs. Opstvedt passed away at the Story City Memorial Hospital, July 2, at the age of 75 years.

She is survived by her husband, Eli, Story City; a son, Eli Jr. Opstvedt of Nevada, a daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Lorene) Mason of Radcliffe; six grand children; one great grand child; two brothers and five sisters; Marion Wierson of LeRoy, Minnesota, Mrs. Anna Hildal of Jewell, Irving Wierson, Mrs. Violet Riney, Mrs. Earl (Wanda) Clayberg, Mrs. Robert (Gertrude) Larson and Mrs. Ralph (Florence) Nordeen, all of Story City.

An infant son, her parents, and one sister have preceded her in death.
