Obituary for Richard "Dick" Reger
Richard (Dick) Coffin Reger was born November 25, 1929 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Gue and Nellie (Coffin) Reger. He graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids in 1948 and served in the United States Navy from 1948-50. He married Evelyn Modracek on June 12, 1949 in Cedar Rapids. They were married for 63 years, living together in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Ames, Lake Panora, Trinity, Florida, and then back to Ames last summer. Dick was an active member of Hope Methodist Church in Trinity for many years before moving back to Iowa. He worked at Iowa Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids, The State of Iowa Comptroller in Des Moines and Donnelley Marketing in Nevada, Iowa as Computer Operations Manager before retiring in 1991.
Dick passed away and went to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday evening, February 9th, 2013, surrounded by his family at 83 years of age.
He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn; four children: Sherry (Dave) Stanbrough, Rick (Wendi) Reger, John (Becky) Reger, and Pamela (Lee) Harms; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer, Ben, Scott, Tim, Michael, Julie, Joe, Christen, Laura, Erin, and Sarah; 12 great- grandchildren: Myah, Myles, Zoie, Jack, Josephine, Addiysn, Taylor, Logan, Renae, Samuel, Colton and Adalynn; one sister, Evelyn Hawes; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Reger; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Reger; and one granddaughter, Susan Stanbrough.
Memorials in honor of Dick may be directed to Homeward Hospice of Ames, Cross Road Baptist Church of Ames, or Hope Methodist Church 2200 Little Road, Trinity, Florida 34655.
