Obituary for Javerna Maland

Javerna Maland was born November 24, 1916 to Martin and Mary (Severeid) Maland in Huxley. She was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of Palestine Lutheran Church. She attended Huxley Consolidated School in Huxley, graduating in 1934. She was an active member of Palestine and over the years worked at Kvali Grocery Story in Huxley, Rushing Grocery in Ames, Puffett Plumbing, Allen Motors, Palmer Plumbing and George White in Ames. Javerna enjoyed flowers, gardening, yard work, traveling and devoted hours of service to her church. Family and friends were special to her and many people enjoyed front porch visits with her and her sister.

Javerna died on February 4, 2013 at Rolling Green Village in Nevada at 96 years of age.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Maland; cousins; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Palestine Lutheran Church.
