MRS. MAREN DURBY
Maren Malene Bjornevik Durby was born Feb. 12, 1877, in Fenars, Norway, and died at ther home south of Roland April 19, 1967.
She was the daughter of Peder and Birgetta Simonsen. She came to America at the age of 16.
She married Peder Durby Nov. 2, 1893, on the farm south of Roland, where she lived for 74 years.
Mrs. Durby was a member of the Bergen Lutheran church, Roland, and was active in the church's ladies aid, church circles and Bible classes.
She is survived by five sons, Palmer of Forest City, Archie of Jewell, Enock, Forte Meade, S.D., Laurence Durby of Stanhope and Benjamin Durby, Roland; five daughters, Mrs. Lydia Sansgaard, Story City, Mrs. Ruth Duea, Nevada, Mrs. Bernice Caltvedt, Roland and Mrs. Palma Beaty, Marshalltown; 37 grandchildren; and a sister, Petra Hallund, Bergen, Norway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peder; four children and 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 1967, from Bergen Lutheran Church, Roland, with the Rev. Howard Lybeck officiating. Burial was in the Roland Cemetery.
