Milford Handeland, son of Chester and Hannah Handeland was born June 14, 1902 in Roland, Iowa, and died Thursday, Sept. 26, 1958 at 1:00 a.m. at the age of 66 years, as a result of a car accident which completely paralyzed him May 17, 1968 two miles south of Ames. He had been hospitalized in the Iowa Methodist hospital, Des Moines, Iowa until September 5th when transferred to the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames until his death.

He was united in marriage to Gladys West on February 10, 1937. To this union two daughters were born.

Surviving him are his wife, Gladys, one daughter, Marjorie (Mrs. Robert Gibson), Story City, two grandchildren, Mindi Lee and Denis Dean Gibson, two brothers, Carl of McCallsburg and Mirom of St. Paul, Minn., one sister, Mrs. Emma Britson, Roland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and one infant daughter, Patricia Ann.

He had been employed by the Iowa Highway Commission since 1951.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran church in Ames where he had been a member. Rev. O. M. Severseike officiated at the services.

"Heaven is My Home" and "Beyond the Sunset" were sung by David Weltha, Ames and Mrs. Betty Lage, Roland.

Pallbearers were Clifford Soren, Pat Rude, Walter Matsen, Billy Brown, Melvin Jenkins, Porter Vold.

Interment was at the Story City Cemetery, Story City, Ia.
