Mrs. Omvig Dies At Pleasant Valley Home

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR ROLETTE COUNTY WOMAN

Mrs. Tom C. Omvig of Pleasant Valley township died shortly after 6 p. m., Thursday, March 10, at her home. Mrs. Omvig was 47 years old, death being caused by an internal cancer which had caused her much suffering for more than a year.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 14, at 1 p. m. at the home and at 2 p. m. at the Norwegian Lutheran church of Mylo, Rev. O. E. Engebritson of Rolette officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley cemetery.

A choir composed of Mrs. Oscar Myhre, Mrs. Clere Lewis and Miss Josephine Berge of Rolette, with Mrs. O. E. Engebritson at the organ, sang two hymns.

The pallbearers were Theodore Johnson, Ole Jemtrud, Henry Henderson, John Welander, Carl Anfinson and Carl Monson.

Rachel Berge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Berge of Story City, Ia., was born July 19, 1884, and lived on a farm with her parent near Story City, until 1908, when she was united in matrimony to Tom C. Omvig in May of that year. After their marriage they resided in Webster City, Ia., for three years. They came to North Dakota in 1911 and took up their residence on section 19 in Pleasant Valley township, where they have resided since.

To this union four children were born, three sons and one daughter, all of who survive. Clyde, who is married and living at Daisy; Lester, Dennis and Doris who live at home. Dennis and Doris, who are twins, are 13 years of age.

Besides her husband, children and a grandson, Mrs. Omvig is survived by a sister, Mrs. O. J. Teig of Blue Earth, Minn.; a brother, Mike Berge of Madison, Minn.; her grandmother, Mrs. Martha Teig, who is 97 years old, and resides in Norway.

Mrs. Omvig was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church, and member of the Ladies Aid of the Lutheran church of Myo.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: a son, Clyde, and family of Daisy; a brother, Mike Berge, and family of Madison, Minn.; a sister Mrs. O. J. Teig of Blue Earth, Minn.; an uncle, O. J. Larson of Madison, Minn.; two of Mr. Omvig's brothers, Lars and Jens Omvig of Story City, Ia. Friends from out of town who were present were: Mrs. Betsy Melland and Mrs. Richard Holtman of Cando, Lars Johnson of Rugby, George and Annie Anfinson, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Marcus, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Gronos and Mrs. Herbert Else of Wolford, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Torkelson, Mrs. Carrie Sabby and L. S. Sevold of Rolette.
