J. G. Wood was killed at Madrid last week Tuesday by being caught between two cars he was repairing which were suddenly forced together by a backing train. Mr. W. until recently lived at or near Iowa Center. He leaves a family and other relatives to mourn his untimely death.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According the WPA Records, John G. Wood died 14 Nov. 1882 and is buried in the Madrid Cemetery, Boone County, Iowa.
