Nancy Jean Temple, 59, of Ames, died on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Israel Family Hospice House following a short illness. A memorial visitation will be held at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th St, Ames on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 4 to 6 PM where family and friends will celebrate Nancy's life.

Nancy was born in Ames on April 25, 1953 to John and Ruby Anfinson Temple. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1971 and from DMACC after studying keypunch operations. She married Bill Sherrard in 1990 and they later divorced. Nancy worked at 3M in Ames for many years and supplemented her income by picking up cans.
Known as a stubborn but very giving woman, Nancy enjoyed her friends. She enjoyed having fun and had been active in bowling and softball in her younger years. She had many friends in the Ames area and will be missed by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her son, Travis Temple of Ames; siblings, Jerry Temple of Ridgeville, SC, Roger (JoAnn) Temple of Boone, David (Sherry) Temple of Ames, Sandra (Steve) Harriman of Gilbert, Linda Sills of Nevada and Michael Temple of Nevada and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Pat Temple.
