Stella Marjorie Baker
July 20, 1925 - October 21, 2012

Marjorie Baker, 87, formerly of Nevada, died on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Trinity Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.

Marjorie was born on July 20, 1925 in Sheldahl to Mandius T. and Sadie (Mickelson) Lee. She was a 1943 graduate of Sheldahl High School. On June 22, 1947, Marjorie married Ralph V. Baker in Slater. She was employed at the Nevada High School cafeteria. Marjorie was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church. She and Ralph enjoyed traveling to all 50 states.

Marjorie is survived by a son, Bryan (Jennifer) Baker of West Des Moines; a daughter, Barbara Lee (David) Cory of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren Damon Cory, Brooke Cory, Sadie Baker, and Theo Baker; two great grandchildren Cipriano Mena III and Emmanuel Mena.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on September 9, 1997, two brothers, Homer Lee and Thurman Lee and a sister Thelma Nelson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 23 with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Marjorie for the Memorial Lutheran Church.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Marjorie and her family.
