Alberta James Campbell Richmond formerly of Madeira OH, Zionsville IN, Ames IA and Tucson AZ died September 10, 2012, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born April 13, 1919 in Sunderland, England to Lily and William Campbell. She immigrated as an infant with her parents to the USA. She was raised in New Jersey where she learned to play the piano at an early age.

Alberta studied piano accompaniment for one year at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. She then turned her attention to earning a teaching degree at Glassboro College and taught elementary school. After several years of teaching she decided to become a nurse and entered Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She graduated with a BS RN in 1947. She married Emory E Richmond in June of 1949. She began her career in nursing and teaching in Cincinnati, Ohio in the late 1950's. She taught first and third grades at Holmes Elementary in Deer Park from 1964 until her retirement in 1983. After retirement she further pursued her interest in music by learning to play the violin, viola da gamba, and recorder. She played recitals and public concerts. She enjoyed traveling to visit National Parks and family. Alberta earned a Master Gardner Certificate while in Indianapolis then volunteered at Holliday Park in Indianapolis for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband Emory (1970). She is survived by her brother Don (Trish) Campbell, Denver CO, son Douglas (Shirley) Richmond, Tucson AZ, son David (Suzanne) Richmond, Mason OH, son Paul Richmond, Rogers AR, daughter Evelyn Richmond (Jeff Wolt) Ames IA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Her extended family also includes her cousin Rosina Hall, Rickmansworth England and nephew Don (Doris) Richmond and their two sons.
