Dolores “Dee” Herzog, 83, of the Embers in Marshalltown, died Saturday, October 6, 2007.
Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 11th at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Hutton. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10th. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice and Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dolores and her family.
Born on October 17, 1923, in Colo, Iowa, she was the daughter of William and Lillian (Wolfe) Kniel. She graduated from Zearing High School and later on went to Evangelical Deaconess Nursing School. Dolores also proudly served as a cadet during war.
On June 10, 1945 in the Zorr Church of the Laurel and Newton area, she was united in marriage to Raymond E. Herzog. They resided in Haverhill and Marshalltown. She was employed by Dr. Shimoda, area hospitals, and Hellberg’s Jewelers. She was a past member of Elim Lutheran Church and currently attended Our Savior Lutheran Church. Dee was a strong-willed, loving person, was always willing to help others and was a good grandmother. She loved nursing, reading, her poodle dogs, and her home as well as her home at Embers.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Pamela (Larry) Anderson of the Detroit, MI area; grandchildren: Bryce Anderson of Detroit and Amy (David) Wlotkowski of Detroit; great-grandchildren: Natalie Paris and Molly Rose Wlotkowski both of Detroit; brother, William Kniel Jr. of Quincy, IL; sister-in-law, Carmen Kunkel of Marshalltown and special friend, Pete Hoing of Marshalltown.
In death she has rejoined her parents, husband, Raymond, who passed away in 1992, sister, Evangeline Anderson, and second husband, Willard Zickefoose.
