Erma Ullestad, age 84, died on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Zearing Health Care Center in Zearing, IA.

Erma Mae Ullestad was born on February 14, 1928 on the family farm northwest of Radcliffe, Iowa. She was youngest of seven children born to Joseph and Ella (Britson) Hinderaker.

She received her education in the Radcliffe area and graduated from Radcliffe High School.

On June 12, 1948 Erma was united in marriage to Lester Ullestad at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. After their marriage they moved to Algona where they welcomed their daughter Diane. Shortly after, they moved to Ames where Les opened up an accounting business. In 1962 the family adopted Brian. In 1976 Erma, Les and Brian moved to Rancho Palos Verdes, California where Diane resided with her family. Les and Erma eventually moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. Erma worked for the Messinger Mortuaries for several years. Erma lived in Arizona until Les passed away in 2005 and then moved back to Ames, Iowa.

Erma died on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Zearing Health Care Center in Zearing, Iowa.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her daughter Diane Mohr of San Diego, CA; her son Brian and his wife Marcy of Austin, TX; two grandsons Joshua Mohr of San Francisco, CA and Cody Ullestad of Austin, TX; one brother Bill Hinderaker of Radcliffe; along with many other relatives and friends.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister Loretta Male, four brothers Harvey, Ernest, Kenneth and M. Luverne “Bump”.
