Robert Eugene Stone
November 15, 1928 - June 12, 2011

Robert "Bob" Eugene Stone, 82 of Nevada, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday June 12, 2011 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg and Pastor Kevin Leveck officiating. Burial of the cremains will be held later at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Bob was born on November 15, 1928 in Nevada to Ivan Russell and Leona (Wood) Stone. He was a Nevada High School graduate. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 8, 1954, he married Nancy Rae Sorensen in Nevada. Bob was employed by Reuben H. Donnelley Marketing for 42 years. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada and regularly attended the First United Methodist Church also in Nevada. Bob was a longtime member of the Nevada Fire Department, County Fireman's Association, Story County Camping Group, and Ames Moose Lodge. He was a life long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2209, William F. Ball American Legion Post #48, and the Iowa Fireman's Association.

Bob is survived by a son, Gary (Cathy) Stone of Nevada; a daughter Lori (Rodney) Payne of Lubbock, TX; 4 grandchildren Chris Stone, Austin Stone, Alicia Stone and Andrew Payne; 2 great-grandchildren Gavin and Taylor Stone; 3 brothers, Jimmie M. (Thelma) Stone, Paul Stone, all of Nevada and Bill Stone of Marshalltown.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy on October 21, 2003, and 2 sisters-in-law, Midge and Fran Stone.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14 with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established in Bob's name for the Nevada Fire Department.

Chet Ryan Mortuary has been entrusted with the care of Bob and his family.
