Irma Cecilia Cahill Reed
November 22, 1916 - August 15, 2011

Irma C. Cahill Reed, 94 of Nevada passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 22 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 2210 Lincoln Way in Ames with Father Jon Seda officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Corpus Christi Cemetery in Ft. Dodge.
Irma was born on November 22, 1916 in Ft. Dodge to Thomas Michael and Philomene (Dupley) Riordan. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Ft. Dodge in 1933. On June 2, 1941, Irma was united in marriage to Joseph C. Cahill in Ft. Dodge. She was employed as an administrative assistant by Flaherty Insurance and Trinity Regional Hospital. Irma served as Grand Regent of the Fort Dodge Chapter of Catholic Daughters of America and volunteered for Catholic Charities while living in Fort Dodge. She was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing bridge. Irma was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church since moving to Nevada in 1997.

Irma is survived by her three children, Thomas (Kay) Cahill, MaryAnn (Bruce) Schwering, and Joseph (Marjorie) Cahill, all of Nevada; 7 grandchildren and 10 great -grandchildren.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph (of 51 years) on January 4, 1992, her second husband Woody Reed on March 1, 2009, and 2 sisters, Vera Killion in 1998 and Inez McGough in 2008.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Irma.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Irma and her family.
