George M “Pud” Meusburger, 72, of Maxwell, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at his home.

George was born June 4, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Lewis and Elizabeth (Wright) Meusburger. George was united in marriage to JoAnn Richardson on April 30, 1957 in Des Moines. George served in the Army during the Cold War. George was a carpenter and enjoyed teaching his son, Kenny, the art and the tricks of the trade of carpentry. George loved his family his grandchildren, and enjoyed a good story.

George is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn of Maxwell; his six children: Cindy (David) Griffith of Maxwell, Chris (Bob) Pritchard of Maxwell, Cathy Venteicher of Collins, Kenny (Sandy) Meusburger of Maxwell, Candy (Tim) Miller of Cedar Falls, Mary (Tim) De Costa of Bondurant; 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Dolores Brown of Waukee, Christine (Mark) Schore of Dawson; brother-in-law, Jack Crise; and his dog, Rachel.

George was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Lewis and Jack; 3 sisters: Margaret Bunting, Barbara Riccio, Mary Crise; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Monday, May 2nd, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elkhart. Inurnment will be at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery south of Maxwell.

Visitation will be 3:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Central Iowa, and/or to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Elkhart.

The Meusburger family extends special thanks to Jane and the entire Hospice staff for all the kindness, care, concern, and assistance they have provided.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
