Wayne Lester Strait

Cambridge, Iowa

Wayne Strait, 93, of Cambridge, passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Wayne was born December 1, 1917, to Warren and Hazel (Perks) Strait in rural Adams County, Iowa. He graduated from Corning High School in 1935 and married Paula, who passed away in 2003. Wayne served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Corning and the American Legion in Adams County. Wayne worked as a farmer his entire life.

Wayne is survived by his children, April (John) Arbuckle of Ankeny, Pam (Wayne) Messer of Huxley, David (Cathy) Strait of North Las Vegas, Nevada, and Steven (Jaunita) Strait of Oxford, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Paula; two sisters, Adlin and Verla; and one brother, Warren Darwin Strait.

Per his wishes, he has been cremated and burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date.

Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
