Buckeye, Iowa

Eugene Kenneth Berndt, 78, of Buckeye passed away Monday, October 3, 2011, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls.

Eugene was born May 8, 1933, in Buckeye Township, to Kenneth and Iris (Radohl) Berndt. He served in the United States Navy and was a Hardin County Deputy for 22 years, retiring in 1995.

Eugene is survived by his daughter, Tamera (Tony) Hohneke of Indianola; his brother, Roger of Hubbard; his three grandchildren, Dustin, Calie and Scooter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra in 2007; and two brothers, Richard and Jerry.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2011, at First Congregational Church in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday also at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Gene Berndt, 811 N. 12th Street, Indianola, IA 50125.
