Betty Mae Burnett
June 5, 1928 - November 3, 2011
Nevada, IowaBetty Mae Burnett, 83, of Nevada, Iowa, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at her home.
Betty was born June 5, 1928 and graduated from Nevada High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to George Burnett on June 12, 1949 in Nevada, Iowa. George preceded Betty in death on November 1, 2009. Betty was a homemaker most of her life. She loved playing cards and having family and friends at her home for meals. Betty was a member of the Nevada First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church in Nevada where she served on many committees, and a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Betty is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Keith (Barbara) Burnett of Nevada, Iowa, Lynn (Kim) Burnett of Ames, Iowa, David (Wendi) Burnett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren with one on the way; her step-mother: Sally Salmon of Carlisle, Iowa; and six sisters: Phyllis Burnett of Nevada, Iowa; Mary Sones, Diana Prall, Louanna Pezzetti, Linda Goodsell and Cindy Berg, all of Carlisle, Iowa.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and her brother, Joe Miller.Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday at the Nevada First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church in Nevada. Interment will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
