November 4, 1915 - June 17, 2011
Obituary

Florence E. Vilmont, 95, of Story City and Gilbert, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 17, 2011. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Timberland Village Chapel in Story City. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery at 1:00 p.m..

Florence Vilmont was born November 4, 1915 in Dunlap. She married Chet Vilmont on March 2, 1940. She attended Dunlap schools, and graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in home economics. She completed her certification in library science from the University of Northern Iowa. Her teaching and libarian career was completed with her retirement from the Gilbet schools.

She is survived by a son, Roger (Uta) Vilmont, of Hastings, Michigan; a daughter, Esther Vilmont, and her husband, Paul Janssen, of Gilbert; three grandchildren, Brian (Debbie) Vilmont, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Steven (Dawn) Smith, of Gilbert, and Christine Smith and Todd Tilley, of Nevada; three great grandchildren, Makenzie Vilmont, Dalton Janssen, and Morgan Smith; and a sister, Ann Hulsebus, of Denison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and two
brothers, William and Robert Rannells.
