Obituary

Jacqueline Mortvedt Volkens, 82, of Ames, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Norem and Chaplain Sandy Anenson officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Jacqueline Volkens was born December 2, 1928 in Hardin County, Iowa to Wesley D. and Louise C. (Kruthoff) Oswood. She grew up in Iowa Falls and Des Moines, where she graduated from North High School.

She married David Mortvedt on September 4, 1948 and they later divorced. She raised her family in Randall and then moved to Ames. She retired from ISU food services in 1990, after 11 years.

She is survived by her four children, Roxanne (Tom) Bell of Jewell, Dennis (Terri) Mortvedt of Keller, TX, Deb (Keith) Arneson and Loree (Mark) Hanson, all of Ames; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a niece, Lisa Oswood Rogers, of Phoenix, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald Oswood; and grandson, Robbie Hanson.
