Rickey Dean Martin passed away from cancer at the Israel Family Hospice House Saturday, March 3, 2012. A visitation will be on Thursday, March 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. A memorial service will on Friday, March 9 at 10 a.m., also at Stevens.

Rickey Martin was born on October 27, 1953. He graduated from Ames High School in 1973 and then graduated from culinary school. Rickey worked as the food service manager at an Ames care facility for thirty-eight years. The past three years, he worked at the Union Drive Market Place as a cook.

Rickey enjoyed college sports and was a huge Iowa State University fan. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, and previously served as president of the Ames Evening Lions Club.

Rickey is survived by three sisters and one brother, Penny Martin Tolle, Candy Martin Smith, Billie Calkins Strickler, and Rusty Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and fiancé, Bobby Stark.
