Lester Ray Stangeland

BORN: March 2, 1921
DIED: January 15, 2011
LOCATION: Jewell, Iowa

Lester Ray Stangeland was born March 2, 1921 near Jewell to Rasmus and Ellen (Stangeland) Stangeland. Lester served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Margaret Ruth Yoder on July 21, 1947. Lester farmed near Jewell until his retirement five years ago. He was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship Church where he was active in Bible study. Lester enjoyed farming, fishing in his spare time, and his grandchildren’s ball games.

Lester is survived by four daughters, Linda Loux, Sharon (Bob) Lewis, Lois Stangeland and Lisa (Matt) Larson, all of Jewell; two sons, Ray Stangeland of Jewell and Don (Pam) Stangeland of Stanhope; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret on February 10, 2005; two brothers, Richard Stangeland and Newman Stangeland; and two sisters, L. Marie Johnson and Leota Fribourgh.
