Reinhart Konen

Maxwell, Iowa

Reinhart Francis Konen, 62, of Maxwell, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Reinhart was born February 14, 1950 in Little Falls, Minnesota, the son of George Frank and Agnes Ann (Jutz) Konen. He graduated from Washington High School in Brainerd, Minnesota in 1968 and earned an AA Degree from Des Moines Area Community College. He had served in the Navy, the Army and the Navy Reserves. Reinhart was a mail carrier and maintenance mechanic at the bulk mail center. He was united in marriage to Deb Orton on June 10, 1972 in Little Falls, Minnesota. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ankeny, Iowa, and was very active in the Boy Scouts Troop #186. Reinhart enjoyed raising llamas as well as motorcycling and teaching motorcycle safety classes.

Reinhart is survived by his wife, Deb, of Maxwell, IA; six children: Karen (Bert) Lee of Maxwell, IA, Joel Konen (Maria Brockardt) of Ankeny, IA, Jeremy (Jill) Konen of Mazomanie, WI, Lisa (Jason) Christenson of Tabernacle, NJ, Matthew (Sara) Konen of Huxley, IA, Dan Konen of Maxwell, IA; eight grandchildren: Natasha Lee, Quintin Konen, Dyllan Konen, Hunter Lee, Anya Lee, Abigail Konen, Nora Konen, Evangeline Lee; three brothers: Walter (Diane) Konen of Brainerd, MN, Edward (Sandy) Konen of Minneapolis, MN, Richard (Linda Boone) Konen, of Des Moines, IA; and two sisters: Marilyn (George) Johnson and Grace (Dan) Giesecke, both of Minneapolis, MN.

Reinhart was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William "Bud" Konen.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ankeny, IA with Bishop Pat Bishop officiating. Interment will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, IA.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday at his church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
