Harold Franklin Bartmess
June 6, 1935 - June 22, 2012

Harold Franklin Bartmess, 77 of Nevada died on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Mercy Central Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26 in the Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. Burial will follow in the Murphy Cemetery in rural Nevada.

Harold was born on June 6, 1935 in Green City, MO to Simon Henry and Emma (Myers) Bartmess. On August 20, 1955, he married Dorothy Marie Sodders in Princeton, MO. Harold was employed by the Randall Co-Op. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and listening to country music.

Harold is survived by his wife Dorothy of Nevada; four sons, Harold Leroy (Shelley) of Aurora, CO, Craig Alan (Kathy) of Mt. Vernon, IA, David Lee of Ames, and Matthew Scott (Lana) of Clarinda; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother Albert and sister Sherry.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents, brothers infant Charles George, Marvin, Henry Lee, Dale, Larry and sister Darlene.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25 with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Harold.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Harold and his family.
