Frederick Ulysses Larson
BORN: October 11, 1917
DIED: July 27, 2011
LOCATION: Randall, Iowa
Frederick Ulysses Larson was born October 11, 1917 to Richard and Malvyna (Olson) Larson in Randall, Iowa. Frederick was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church by Rev. G.O. Paulsrud and was an active lifetime member of his church. Frederick attended school in Randall graduating in 1935.
Frederick and Delores Olson were married September 24, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed 66 years of marriage.
Rather than continuing education, he chose to remain on the farm with his mother and sister. His father died April 1933. Frederick also drove school bus for Randall Consolidated School and later for South Hamilton. He was custodian for the school in Randall until it closed and also delivered Des Moines Sunday Register for many years.
Frederick always liked music and was a member of high school music groups. He sang with the Elim Church Choir, a men’s quartet, and duets with his wife. He was privileged to make several trips to Chicago with the Hamilton County 4-H Band and play for the International Livestock Exposition.
Frederick passed away July 27, 2011 at Bethany Manor in Story City at 93 years of age.
Frederick was a loving and caring husband and father and will be truly missed by his wife Delores of Randall; son Richard of Story City; daughter Karen (John) Dimmick of Columbus, Ohio; step-granddaughter Jennifer (Mike) Emmanuel of Columbus, Ohio; and sister Pauline Grove of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elim Lutheran Church, Bethany Manor, or Riverside Bible Camp.
