Patricia Erickson

BORN: July 16, 1937

DIED: July 27, 2011

LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Patricia Alice Brooks Erickson was born on July 16, 1937, in Ames, Iowa. She died suddenly on July 27th, 2011, during a trip to Hinckley, Minnesota. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30th, at Adams Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior to service.

Pat lived her entire life in Ames. She was the youngest child, and only daughter, of Earl and Agnes Brooks. She worked for over 40 years at the Ames Laundry, where she enjoyed many close friendships. Her greatest accomplishment and joy, however, was her devotion to her family, especially her son “Johnny”.

Pat found great joy in simple pleasures. She enjoyed travel to any part of the state or country, was always eager to join a card game, and loved to play the slot machines. She faithfully watched “The Young and the Restless” and also enjoyed classic movies. She excelled at Wii Bowling. In recent years, she took great pleasure in pursuing new activities and friendships.

Pat possessed the rare gift of a pure heart. She loved her family and friends unconditionally, without question or judgment; she welcomed and appreciated any blessings that came into her life, never asking for more than she got; she laughed easily and hugged freely. She provided an excellent example of how to live life simply, meaningfully and with joy.

She leaves behind her beloved son John Erickson (Kathy) and grandson, Evan of Des Moines; brother, Richard Brooks, of Ames; nephews, Rick Brooks (Monica) of San Antonio, Texas, and Jim Brooks of Nevada, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Brooks; sisters-in-law, Opal and Barb Brooks, and an infant son.
