W. W. Finnie, 55, well known life insurance agent, and brother of Mrs. Geo. Holmes of Collins, died very suddenly at his home in Nevada Monday evening about 8:15 from a coronary embolism.
Mr. Finnie, whose health had been failing for a year or so, had experienced a couple of rather serious sick spells during that period of time, but for the past few months had appeared to be recovering.
He had spent Monday at the office as usual, and had made a business call in the country late in the afternoon. Returning home he had started to dress to accompany Mrs. Finnie on a social affair, when the attack came. Physicians were called but he lived only a few minutes.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 at Central Presbyterian church at Nevada, with his pastor, the Rev. Joseph M. Kennedy in charge. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
The news of the sudden passing of Mr. Finnie came as a distinct shock to the entire community.
He was born William Walter Finnie, son of George and Ellen Finnie, at Maxwell, July 22, 1881. There he grew to manhood and established a home after marrying Miss Della Harrison of Nevada. Their home was at Maxwell for a few years, but about 30 years ago they located in Nevada, where Mr. Finnie established an insurance agency.
Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Finnie and with the wife survive him. They are Marion Finnie of Ames, and Maxine, now Mrs. Harold Walker, of Algona. He also leaves one grandson, Billie Finnie of Ames.
Two sisters are Mrs. Howard Nibel of Des Moines and Mrs. George Holmes of Collins. The one brother, A. M. Finnie, died about six years ago and the father about a year ago.
