Pastor Enoch R. Hall
BORN: December 17, 1920
DIED: January 26, 2012
LOCATION: Story City, Iowa
Pastor Enoch Robert Hall was born December 17th, 1920 to Pastor Martin and Anne (Westwick) Hall in Sioux City, Iowa. He was the oldest of six children and was the only child in his town to have a motorized bike. After graduating high school, Enoch attended St. Olaf College before enlisting in the Army Air Corp. He was an airplane mechanic and was stationed in southern India from 1941 to 1946 during World War II.
After serving our country, Enoch graduated from Lutheran Bible Institute and Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota and then attended Luther Seminary. He married Grace Jacobson on September 9th, 1949, and the couple later had four children. After becoming ordained in 1953, Enoch served as a Pastor at Wessington Springs and Lake Preston South Dakota before coming to Iowa in 1962 and serving at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jewell, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanhope. He served as chaplain at Bethany Manor in Story City from 1977 to 1986.
Enoch retired in 1986 and moved to Story City but still continued to do pulpit supply, lead bible studies and help out with communion. He loved playing cards with friends, his bible study, going to congregate meals with his friends, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. As a minister, Enoch enjoyed driving tractors to help out his farmer parishioners.
Pastor Hall passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Bethany Manor at 91 years of age.
Survivors include his sons Dan (Cindy) Hall of San Diego, California and Nathan (Jena) Hall of Atlanta, Georgia; his sister Ruth Hall of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Grace; his daughters Naomi Hall and Miriam Ubben; his brother Art Hall; and three sisters, Agnes, Thelma and Sadie.
Memorials may be designated to Bethany Manor or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.
