Mrs. Nancy Patton has received word of the death of her brother, James M. Guy, which occured at his home in Lamar, Colo., on Feb. 15. Funeral services were held their on Feb. 17.

On Mr. Guy's last visit to Collins, several years ago, it was noted that he was then the oldest living person born in Collins township. His birthplace was the farm where Wm. Woodward now lives.

The following obituary is taken from a Lamar paper:

James M., son of Ebenezer and Mary Guy, was born in Story county, Iowa, June 21, 1857, and grew to manhood in that place. On Sept. 13, 1882, he was married to Miss Cora Davidson, to which union 12 children, three of whom died in infancy, were born. The others are Roy, Pekin, Ill.; Mrs. Leota Mock, Kansas City; Mrs. Mabel Mock, Lamar; Clarence, Lamar; Mrs. Lucy Grimsley, Kansas City; Ross, Kansas City; Eben, Hoboken, N. J.; Gale, Kansas City; and John, who died in 1918. Mrs. Guy, the mother, passed away June 9, 1920. In addition to his children, Mr. Guy is survived by 30 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Patton, Collins, Ia.; Mrs. Electa Downing, Lamar; Mrs. Minto Hall, Denver; and one brother, Will Guy of Pamona, California.

In 1886 Mr. Guy brought his family to Prowers county, where they made their home until his death. He was well known as one of the pioneers of this region, was honored and respected by all who knew him and will be missed by his friends and family.
