From Nevada Representative March 16, 1881
Died.
In Nevada, Iowa, Sunday evening March 6th 1881, Melvin M. Bunce son of D. J. and Marinda Bunce.
Melvin Bunce was born in Whiteside county, Ill. Nov. 24, 1858. While he was in infancy his parents removed to Iowa and he had been a resident of this State ever since. For somewhat over a year he had resided in Nevada, and was employed in the store of Zwilling Brothers. Though his residence here has been short he has many friends in Nevada.
His last illness was lingering and painful yet he bore his sufferings with much patience. The last day of his sickness he suffered much pain but for the last three hours was quite easy and finally expired without a struggle as though falling asleep. He is mourned by his family as a dutiful and affectionate son and a large circle of friends sympathize with them deeply in their loss.
Dr. Bunce and his family desire to express their heartfelt thanks to the many friends who have showed so much kindness both to them and the departed.
We only know that thou hast gone,
And that the same returnless tide,
That bore thee from us, still glides on,
And we, who mourn thee, with it glide.I shall know the loved who have gone before,
And joyfully weet will the meeting be,
When over the river, the peaceful river,
The angle of death shall carry me.
