From Nevada Representative December 25, 1898

Whereas: it has pleased an alwise providence to call from this to a better world our worthy comrade, Joseph McCowen, who after a short illness died Dec., 11th 1878, and whereas the deceased was one of the strongest and best members of our fire company responding promptly to every alarm of fire, and performing well his duty.

Therefore, Resolved that in theloss of our comrade, we have lost one of the best and strongest members of our company. Resolved that we deeply sympathize with the bereaved wife and relatives of the deceased.

Resolved that the engine house be draped in mourning for thirty days.

Resolved, that these resolutions be published in the Nevada papers and a certified copy be sent to the wife of the deceased.
