Samuel Harmon, step son of George Cook, a young man aged 19 years, while hunting last Saturday near Ankeny, accidentally shot himself through the heart, dying almost instantly. The corpse was brought home to his grief stricken parents on Sunday and buried on Monday.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Samuel Harmon was the son of Michael Harmon and Martha Ann (Price) Harmon. Michael Harmon died ca. 1857 and Martha married secondly, George B. Cook. This was a second marriage for George, as well.
