From Nevada Representative February 16, 1876

Mr. Geo. Wharton an old and well known citizen living just across the line in Polk Co, but well known in the southern part of Story, died at his residence after a short illness, on Saturday last. His funeral took place at the Center Grove School House on Monday last, Sermon by his Pastor Rev. I. Reid. His remains lie in the cemetry near Center Grove.
