From Nevada Representative January 12, 1876

GONE.--Mr. McFadden, the founder and editor of the Ames Intelligencer from its commencement died on Friday of last week after a very brief illness. Mr. McFadden came to Ames and established the Intelligencer about seven years ago, and from that time to this had been consistently in the editorial harness. That, however was but a very small portion of the time he had spent in a newspaper office, as he had commenced business as a printer when a boy and had made it a life profession. He established the first paper ever published in Freeport, Illinois and spent most of his editorial life in that State. He was a kind hearted, true and honorable gentleman in all respects, would never intentionally injure any ones feelings, in short was a true man in every sense of the word. In his death the editorial profession has lost a true member and associate, society, a man of the highest truth and and integrity, and his family a true companion and indulgent father.
