MRS. LOUISA A. McCAIN

Louisa A. McCain was born in Wheeling, W. V., December 4, 1830, and died at the home of her son, Rev. J. C. McCain, near Maxwell, Ia., May 29, 1920, having arrived at the age of 89 years, five months and twenty-five days. She received a good education for her day and spent several years teaching school. In her early womanhood she emigrated to Indiana, where she was first married to Mr. Miller. The issue of this union was a son, Samuel, and a daughter, Hinda, both of whom, with Mr. Miller, have departed this life.

She was married a second time in 1861 to Absolom McCain, who died about twenty-four years ago. Two boys were born to this union, James C., with whom whe lived at the time of her death, and Harry F., of Poplar Bluff, Mo. Grandmother has always been an active, hard working Christian and peacefully fell asleep in that faith. Besides her two sons, she leaves two aged sisters, in Washington, D. C., five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, with many other near relatives.

She fell and injured her hip about two years ago, since which her health has gradually failed until her weary body finally gave up the struggle and her spirit fled to God who have it. All that could be done for her comfort was done.

The funeral service was held Saturday evening at the Peoria parsonage, Rev. Howard T. Young, pastor of the M. E. church of Maxwell, assited by Dr. C. J. Nutt of Des Moines, officiating. The body, accompanied by Rev. J. C. McCain, was taken to Indianapolis, Ind., to be laid away in her own torah, in the Mt. Jackson cemetery of that city.

A quartet, composed of Mrs. Geo. Dunlap, Mrs. Bert Laugent, Roy Davis and B. Buttler, with Mrs. Roy Davis as accompanist, rendered the music.
