Death of Mrs. C. C. Welty

Mrs. C. C. Welty died at the family hone in Colo, Monday evening after an illness of about three weeks.

Susan Paffernberger was born in Washington county, Maryland, February 12, 1836. In February 1862 she was married to Christopher C. Welty and lived in historic Maryland and West Virginia until 1870 when they came to Ogle county Illinois. From there they came to Iowa in 1881 living most of time near Johnson's Grove until they moved to Colo in 1899. Beside her husband Mrs. Welty leaves five sons and one daughter. They are Dan B. of Oregon, Illinois, Harvey A. of Ruthven, Ira C. and Bert B. of Nevada, and Guy of Colo. The daughter Gertie is Mrs. A. B. Alderman of Walker, Iowa. Another daughter Dora May died in 1891.

Mrs. Welty was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church and her funeral was conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church in Colo by her former pastor, Rev. A. B. Shrader now of Kansas City.
