Two more were added to the list of killed in the Rock Island wreck at Casey Monday night, making seven in all. Two of these are former Story county men; Rev. J. W. Caldwell of Van Meter former pastor of the Methodist church at Colo and B. W. John formerly of Maxwell. Rev. Caldwell was a passenger on a freight train and Mr. John who is cousin of the John brothers of this city was a brakeman on the same train. The engineer who is believed to be at fault was killed but the conductor who is equally responsible escaped.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to WPA Records, Rev. James W. Caldwell died 30 October 1905 and was buried in I. O. O. F. Cemetery in Bloomfield, Cleveland Twp., Davis County, Iowa.
