DIED.--Word from Kelly, Story county, announces the death of Mr. J. Hamm, father of Mrs. C. E. Giddings*, of 503 North First avenue, which occurred at 1 o'clock Thursday morning. Mr. Hamm has been suffering from asthmatic trouble and kidney disease for years, and during the past three weeks has been critically ill. He was 74 years of age, and was an old resident of Story county. Aside from his wife, Mr. Hamm is survived by seven children, three sons and four daughters.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Mrs. C. E. Giddings" was Margaret J. Hamm, daughter of Jerry Hamm and Mary (Carney) Hamm, who married Charles E. Giddings on 11 January 1898 in Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa.
