DIED--At 6 a. m. Saturday morning Patrick Curtiss died in this city at the age of 71 years. The last rites were held in the Catholic church in this city under the ministration of Father Nichols on Monday at ten a. m., and the remains interred in the Catholic Cemetery at this point. He wa born in County Meathe, Ireland, in Jan., 1834. He came to America in Nov., 1856, and settled in the State of New Jersey, and came to Story county in the fall of 1895 buying what is known as the McNichols farm near town. He was married in McLean county, Ill., to Mary Carberry, and seven sons and daughter was the fruits of the union, who are living to mourn his loss. The names of the children are Mrs. Kate Maloney*, James, Joseph, and Frank of this county, and John, Thomas and Edward of Beloit, Wis., and Philip, of Illinois, all of whom were present at the last rites.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Catherine "Kate" Curtis married Thomas J. Maroney (not Maloney) 14 October 1896 in Story County, Iowa.
